Re: Engine brief cut out
Thankyou - not had a chance to get into it yet but I'll use these pics to ensure it's been done properly.
Strongly considering the HEI mod you linked - do you know anyone who has done it, or how successful it is? Baffles me that these dissy failures are so common! Seems mad! Apart from the distributors it's been such a reliable car - daily drive for 4 years now.

I don’t know anyone who has done it, but I believe it’s a common option on several makes, I think it’s more of a USA thing?

Re: Engine brief cut out

This is the immobiliser plug. It looks like the correct wires have been taken and joined (badly). Any idea why the pairs on the plug have been soldered together? The plug has not been plugged in the whole time I've had the car. Should it be?
I've also bought the components to fit perform the HEI mod which I will do once I know the immobiliser is right. I figure it's worth trying.

Re: Engine brief cut out
There is no need for the short wires in the plug to be soldered or even together as they don’t do anything now.
I would suggest that you maybe re-do the yellow connectors with some new connectors as they might have become dry joints?
If you do the HEI mod, any chat of a wristlet up and pictures that we could use in the forum please .
Thanks
Trev

Yeh sure, I'll take photos as I go. First hurdle is finding where to mount it, it's only small but there's not much spare surface!
Do I need to plug the immobiliser plug back in?

Re: Engine brief cut out
Alright I've completed the hei mod, only the ignition module, not the external coil. Was pretty straightforward. No issues and fired straight up afterwards.
But......it hasn't solved my problem.
Slightly stumped, may have to just take a chance on the coil being bad and buy yet another distributor.
At least I may not have ignition module problems from now, half the battle?

ANYTHING that holds up the conduction of that HT voltage to the spark plugs is BAD.
Gaps are bad
Always fit a new rotor arm and dis cap if you repair dissy
