Previous post had a no start issue. Sent distributor to ignition car parts and they fixed it, engine now has spark. Garage have said still no fuel so pump is not working.
Is it best to just replace the pump as opposed to troubleshooting it? If so what fuel pump does it use and where can I buy it?

Have they jumped the wires in the diagnostic box near the battery to see if the pump actually runs? which terminals escape me at present. The other option is, have they checked the immobiliser wires, and proved that they is a good connection.CharlesUK wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 4:17 pm1994

As for access to it, you have two options, either remove the fuel tank, or cut a whole in the panel under the rear seat. I would start with the simple stuff and see if you can run 12v directly to the pump, as I think you can get access to the fuel pump wires.
They may also want to check the relay for the fuel pump
I believe that replacements are only secondhand.

Thanks. I’ve had a look in the Haynes manual and seems to recommend this aswell. towing, all depends on who is doing it and what equipment you have, plus how far?
If it's just a rope, then there are towing eyes that you can use, but the person being towed has to know what they are doing. You can use an A-Frame, these attached under the front of the car, then on to a tow bar and are one man operation, or a solid tow bar, these go from towing eye to towing eye, but need the second person again.
the best option is on a trailer.

Fuel cut off switch in to boot
I have a fuel pump, if you think you need it.
To check for fuel, turn on key, crack the 17mm nut at the end of fuel rail, it should flood out of there under pressure.
Did this to a car that had stood for 10 years, it then started straight away

For reference the tow eye was to low compared to the towing car. This meant the bar was going to destroy the bumper on any bump. Ended up doing it the old fashion way with just a ratchet strap. At 17 with under 3 months of driving, not powder steering or brakes was an experience…
