Replacrment 1998 2.0 16v engine
Good morning everyone,
I am looking for a replacement 2.0 16v engine for my 1998 model. Unfortunately the rings are fried and it smokes like a train.
Does anyone have a unit knocking around for sale please?
Thanks and regards
Chris

Re: Replacrment 1998 2.0 16v engine
I have an N reg 16v which is in a very sorry state as it has been stood outside for 6 years, but it has a rebuilt engine (Rings, big end shells, head gasket etc). I am planning to take a few bits off it (not engine bits) then get rid. Yours for free if you want it but it doesn't run and is tatty and has no brakes so you would need to trailer it away. Near Worcester

I'll let one of the tech's answer your question about the engines as I am not certain.
Weekend after next would be earliest I could let it go if that's OK?
Cheers.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but any chance I could grab the rear sway bar and rear left quarter panel? I'm up in Scotland but I'd be happy to pay postage and a bit of dosh for the effort.

I'm really sorry but I honestly just don't have the time to do that for you - snowed under at work and home tbh .
Maybe if Chris 'dorsetmodrnclassics' does have the car he could help you out at a later date? I've gotta get the car gone asap as it's in the way and I must free up the space. Sincere apologies..

Honestly that's no problem at all! Was purely on the off chance.
Thanks anyway!

Hi chris. Really sorry, mate -didnt know if you still wanted it as no-one got back to you whether the engine is same as 1998 one. Car will be ready to go by weds which would be best day for me as I am at work th fr sat and sun! Mind you- I guess I dont actually need to be here tbh.

Not a tech, especially when it comes to 16v but I would of thought that the basic block, head, etc are the same which is the key bit if replacing a smoker.
Ancillaries May be different, but you could just swap these off the old engine.
