Ticking underload

Post by CharlesUK » Sat Jul 26, 2025 10:24 pm

My car has developed a ticking sound underload, it is only when on throttle and when between 1k and 3.5k but doesnt always do it, the car isnt misfiring as such but feels down on power and then picks up when the ticking suddenly stops. Ive checked oil and water level, spark plugs done recently and wires seemed fine. Any ideas?

Id be a bit suspicious about your injectors. Always use E5 fuel but never from a supermarket and dose the fuel with injector cleaner. It'll cost very little and may clear the problem up. (low power when ticking - ok when quiet!)

Made a big difference to the Flying Machine when I first bought it off a Neanderthal in Manchester. Been good ever since.

Only ever used e5 in the 2 years of ownership, will try some injector cleaner, user cataclean 2 months ago so a bit suspicious if they clogged up now
