A few weeks ago she turned over but would not fire. I replaced the Dizzy cap and rotor arm, (a job I had put off for months!). Still no spark. The battery went flat, so after it charged she ran perfectly. This weekend I went to Keynsham for a cricket tour. Car wouldn't start again Sunday evening, so it's still there. It's a 95 V6. The passenger window was down, which may be a clue or not. Any advice would be most welcome.

replacing just the cap and arm isn't enough, you need to replace the whole dizzy with a known good one.
Does your car still use a fob for the immobiliser?
Does the car start, then stop when warm
Have you checked the CPS plug, pull it apart, clean and plug back together again

Thanks for the reply. I've never had a problem with anything before. The key has a chip, no actual fob. It ran perfectly from Cardiff to Keynsham on Saturday but now it's stuck in the cricket club car park, which is a little awkward. I don't know where the CPS plug is and my workshop manual is in the car! I'm looking at ways to get her back home.

The CPS plug is a grey plug near the oil dip stick, it goes down to the Crank Position Sensor (CPS), sometimes the connections can go high resistance, pull the plug apart, give it a blow and try again.

Does it turnover well, or is it sluggish when turning over?

If you start it, turn it off and try again does it start?
or
If you start it, run it a bit, turn it off and leave it for a few hours will it start again or not.
If it doesn't start again, you could have a battery issue?

Ok, thanks. I'm going over on Wednesday and I'll check that out. There is a small oil leak in that area so maybe it needs a good clean. It turns over great every time. There has never been a problem starting before.

Eventually got back, disconnected the battery, turned on the ignition, re-connected and away she went. Very strange. Thanks for your advice.
