Car has been laid up awhile with the handbrake applied.
Hand brake arm on caliper sticks in on position unless given a whack
Any quick fixes for this or is it a new caliper?

Unless you have some really special tools , a permanent repair is unlikely.
A fiendishly complicated design with a fatal flaw.
Even a new one needs the DENSO treatment to prolong its life.

The caliper had less than 1000 miles on it before the car was parked, brakes work perfectly, it’s just the mech that sticks, hoped some backwards and forwards might do it
If anyone has a good one left me know

One of mine had the same issue, stripped down and removed the spring then loads of wd, and freed it up no further issues

The lip seal around the shaft lets water in, rust does the rest.
You need to pack the gap between the lever and caliper body with DENSO tape.
