Hi, got a niggly issue with the central locking, every now and then, the drivers door will only unlock manually from the outside but the buttons driver’s side and passengers side will unlock and lock the doors , today however, the drivers door will only unlock manually and the buttons on the drivers door will not work, the buttons on the passengers door work normally, I’ve never been able to unlock the car outside with the passengers lock as it’s really stiff to turn and I fear the key will bend or snap. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks

Sounds like the central locking relay has failed, which is located behind the passenger side rear quarter panel trim.

The outside lock, have you tried squirting wd40 or the like in there?

I had a similar problem with a stiff lock drivers side, in fact the key refused to go fully home so I couldnt open or lock from the drivers side.

I took the lock out completely and took it apart, cleaning all the fingers till they moved freely. Put it all back together and it all works beautifully. The grease had just got stiff over the years and siezed everything up. Worth tring spraying the lock first though.

I've always used graphite lock spray on car door locks.
Does a great job...

Thanks everyone, I gave it a squirt of wd40 and it seems to have done the trick

Be warned winters on its way the locks freeze so do the door sills get some silicon grease round the
door sills either side and the boot/wd 40 all locks and silicon grease on your key them use your locks
to penetrate the barrels ;)
Saves hot water trying to get in your car on a cold frosty morning
