Turns out Speedo is alright, I downloaded a free GPS speedo on the phone at its bob on. So just the tachometer out then. Here’s a pic from earlier, all taken with car in 5th gear…ten mins driving, 20 mins driving and 30 mins driving.

A real odd one this!

Got hold of an Old Ford technical training folder on the probe now. As pointed out previously by tott61 the ignition coil indeed sends the signal to the tach. Also feeds signal to the solenoids that control the actuators which don’t open when the issue starts to develop. There’s a new one on its way to try before pulling the cluster out

Second attempt at replacing the ignition coil didn’t go to plan either as wrong part again. I’d stripped it all down ready this time and found this floating around behind the cover for the ignition coil! I’ve cleaned everything up and bolted it all back together but not Road tested it yet.

Try ATP on the internet there in Germany be about £85 posted
is this a Temic system or still key fob
A very late response sorry!

The car has no key fob, just keys with no buttons etc.

I’ve located the ATP ones on eBay….they ok and do you know if it’ll fit based off the info around the keys?
