Right :| how would I know if the engine hasn't seized? Or do you have to look at the pistons to know for sure
The easiest way is to try and turn it over with a socket on the crank shaft bolt. To make life easier remove all of the spark plugs.

Hi all,

I just wanted to thank everyone for their help, I've learnt alot just through this!

The sad news is however the engine is too damaged to repair and I don't have the funds for it, i can post pics of what we know is damaged etc (havent seen the pistons).

So...I really don't want to scrap it as I know how important parts are here. Its Alpine Green MOT till June 15th and around 145000 miles i beleive. It has rust that would need looking at but honestly it would probably do well as a spares car as everything else is in great condition, has full spec so all black leather interior etc. I also have boxes of spare parts, some new.

Any advise on what to do would be really great :(

It's a beautiful car and hate to see it go to waste.

Thanks all again
Verity

From looking back, through the posts, it would seem that the crank shaft pin sheared, Duncan did offer a replacement, but Andy P also had the parts., probabaly not a bad job to do.

maybe it's not to someone like you, me or Duncan and others, but if Verity has to pay someone to do the work, it may not be worth it.

@Probe97Fiesta01 where is the rust that needs sorting, do you have pictures, as it might help someone to decide if they would like to take it on?

Two places that I know of that'd need sorting for the MOT...

Bracket holding exhaust on has rusted so would need welding, might be a hole in the exhaust, but not a big job as far as I know. Second is in the engine bay, not structural but would need doing for the MOT I beleive - will get a pic of it too.

But yer its just the labour, would love to try but don't have the tools or space at the moment so all extra costs :?
