GENTLEMEN SHE LIVES! .. just about anyway haha

So it starts and idles for the first time in a very long time,

HOWEVER…

it’s struggling, idle was around the 200ish mark and wouldn’t respond to throttle very well.

Would I be right in suggesting a little tinker with the timing?

Thanks again all, should have just listened to everyone shouting “dissy! Dissy!” These past few months :D

Good news, when running and warm you can move the dissy (SLACKEN BOLTS) to lower the rev,s
if no strobe Light to get the idle down 650 /.750

Ok so following on from yesterday I’m still getting trouble from the distributor. My issue is definitely timing as I’ve got spark but unburnt fuel in the plugs. As said I’ve had the engine running (best was weak with a low 200-300rpm). I’ve put the engine to TDC on compression stroke and faced the dissy arm to spark plug one, even moved the dissy body clockwise/ACW just incase. So why is my timing still off?

The lightbulb trick from the diag box? did this before sorting the moby bypass and no codes shown. I’ll give it a go now that’s been done

I have a code this time, cleared and it returned.

It’s one long flash (starting/powering up)
Followed by 3 pluses after another, continuous. So as below

1 111 111 111 111 and so on

Thinking it’s the 03 camshaft sensor, but that being in the dissy and the dissy being new how could that be?

Updates :D

I’ve been on the phone to a helpful gentleman from ignition car parts LTD who’s swears they’re keeping most if not all of the UK Probes on the road :D

I’ve sent both my new and old dissy to them for a bench test and repair (might as well have a spare).

As the new one is pulling a cam sensor code I’m hoping its a quick fix, return and the car will run again. I’m thinking I blew the new dissy on starting the car without a moby bypass.

Will further update when it’s arrived :)
