Door lock light

Ford Probe 2.0
I have changed the door lock light on the driver's side but it only illuminates when the handle is fully pulled. I want to check the micro switch. Is this located within the door handle.

Thought thats was wot it was supposed to do,in the dark pull handle and it aluminates the lock
to put the key in

That's correct Kev, pull the handle and it illuminates for enough time to put the key in the lock. Also if memory serves , the lights in the footwell illuminate too.

It only works when the door is unlocked And the handle can be fully opened

That doesn't sound right.I thought the idea was to pull the handle to illuminate the lock so you can see where to put the key in the dark.Mine you have to find the lock unlock open the door and then the light comes on
