Heater temperature control lever

Post by jheath17 » Fri Dec 14, 2018 2:38 pm

The heater temperature control lever on my Probe feels loose, there is no feeling of resistance when moving the lever. The temperature from the heater is stuck on slightly warm. It seems like a cable has snapped.
So were to i start? Do I have to take the heater out completely or can I take the front panel off.
Any advise we be gratefully received.

Thanks for reading

John

Hi John.

There are no cable to snap mate.
Slider is just a resistance card that electrically alters the position of a Motor which in turn moves a flap.
If the Lever feels loose the you need to remove the control panel from the dash and take it apart.
Think the resistance feel comes from the contacts being spring loaded.

I think I must be having a senior moment, just drove from Leicester to Manchester and back and the heater temperature has been control able, the only thing I had done was to work the lever backward and forwards a few times with slight upwards and then downwards pressure.
So will leave well alone.
