Can you tell me where the main earthing strap is.

There are hundreds of 'earth' points but the main one will be from the battery terminal to body , just follow it.

I thought there was a earth from the engine block to the chassis

There’s two main earths , that go the ‘drive train’

On the off side, there’s a 6mm black cable, that runs from the car’s body to the engine mounting bolt.
On the near side there’s a 10mm cable that runs from the Earth bar by the battery, to the engine/gear box bell housing.

If you think you have a ‘weak spark’, or slow starter motor.
You can run an additional Earth cable of suitable size, from the Earth bar, to engine/gearbox.

First of all make sure the terminals on the battery are clean & tight
