Rocker gasket
Rocker gasket
When fitting a rocker gasket to a 16v engine should you apply sealant completely over the gasket or just where the gasket arches over a cam cup.

Re: Rocker gasket
I normally, make sure the surface are clean & oil free.
Then apply a small amount along the whole length, inc the cam caps.
But that’s how I do it

Re: Rocker gasket
I'm with Duncan, make sure both surfaces are clean and free of oil and dry
Theni put the sealant on the full surface and around the spark plug rings.
Once the cover is back on don't over tighten the bolts and I leave it overnight before stating up the engine

Re: Rocker gasket
Just got gaskets for mine and will be doing this job on Sunday , other than what you’ve said any other tips ?
I’ve got the gaskets from rockauto and thermal inlet gaskets too from eBay.
