I would say it's one of the following things, either the controller is faulty, the blower isn't moving to the other position on the heater, the cable to either is faulty, or the pipe from the blower to the screen has become disconnected

All of which are a pain the arse to get to (within reason)

Nice to hear that you have your car back on the road, do you have any pictures of your car that you might share

All I can say is, it's a good job that you are retired

Have you tried a replacement stork, you should be able to just plug it in to try, without having to remove everything. I would also change the 15a Tail Fuse in the main fuse box
