Re: Handbrake Failure
Sorry , it's lack of DENSO tape again ! When you fit newish calipers , the spindle that disappears into the body of the caliper , the one that is operated by the handbrake cable , MUST be packed round tight with DENSO tape. This will give the lip seal a fighting chance of keeping the salt water out....

Re: Front passenger spring gone.

I fitted used springs which always broke after another few years, the last occasion, before buying new front springs , the car had been static, in the garage for four years. when I came back to use the car , the front spring had broke...

The 4cyl 2.0L diesel 2007 MAZDA 3 has exactly the same cambelt as the 2.5L Probe.

Re: Lazy rev counter
I have a horrible feeling the rev counter problem is a 'mechanical' one , like when you drop a wind-up watch. The bearing at one end of the balance staff breaks , your rev counter has a similar bearing in it.

Was that the case ?

Re: Paintwork help
Looks like something like VIM or CIF cleaner has run out from the channel round the hatchback and down over the 'bumper'.

Re: Early Probe immobiliser issues
Ford never addressed the faulty ignition problems from day one. They were successfully prosecuted in a couple of US states but never federally. Hence they escaped having to cure the fault. Later models must have received better components, but over time , the same problem arises. IMO , the tiny rela...

Re: Fuel pressure issue
Yes, two washers reqd.
If you get the chance, heat those washers up to bright red heat and quench in water while they are red hot.
They will then be in the same state of hard/softness as supplied from new.

Re: Battery clamp and ball joints
LISTEN UP. I have replied to this type of failure many , many times. When you fit your new wishbones you MUST fit a thin stainless steel washer between the rubber boot and the split clamp. Because , if you don't , the gap in the clamp snags on the rubber and every time you turn left or right it twis...
