Re: Diagnostic Link
I'm very unsure about this and others will know more, but I looked into this a few years ago and I'm sure I was told that all the Probes were OBD1 thus not compatible with an OBD2 system. You can find info on downloading the codes with a diode in the garage.

Re: Erratic Idle 16v
I think cpt is bang on with the IAC. It was an ongoing problem with my 16V I needed to strip and clean it every 2 years, but interestingly, you also have poor heater output. That's quite probably an air lock in the matrix and whats interesting about that is that the IAC also needs a coolant flow thr...

Re: Cabin/pollen filter location??
Trev....! If you cant work out where the pollen filter is and you aren't sure if the advice from all the guru's that know this car inside out is worth a tenner, you've got an interesting Ford Probe ownership ahead. Haynes manuals are available online for £16.99! Seriously, it will be the best ...

Re: Non starter
It burst into life again today! Left it to tick over and it randomly cut out after around 1.5min. Struggled to restart but did eventually catch. Held it at 1500rpm for 1 min and then it behaved (apart from it's horrible tapping when warm). I think it needs a good service, looking around it, I think...

Re: bad idle and jerky at low speeds when warm
Might be a few things going on there. First check the coolant level is correct and there is flow through the IAC valve on the throttle body. The IAC valve itself, might be sticking as the 16v was prone to that problem in my experience. The idle speed obviously needs checking and setting up to the bo...

Re: rear subframe
They can be seriously difficult to get out in good condition. Probe Store told me they are obsolete and for all his faults Mark does know his parts so hes probably right, however you can buy high tensile blanks that are the right diameter and long enough from a specialist fastener supplier, then re-...

Re: Power steering issues
On my 16v I had occasionally stiff steering when manoeuvring (after about 10 years) whilst on my present 24v (basically the same I believe) I had stiff steering all the time when I bought it 4 years ago. The 16v was cured with one complete oil change, whilst the 24v took two to get it right out of t...
