Re: Noisy tappets
Had this problem when I first bought the Flying machine. Refer to mojo to which I will add…. Because I didn’t trust the Tescos cowboy I bought the car from first job was a change of oil for Castro gtx and a flushing additive. After a 1000 miles I changed it again this time for Castro 10w30 as this i...

Re: Immobiliser
As Sunfly , if the starter motor turns then it is most UNLIKELY there is anything wrong with the Temic or Immobiliser unit. So , it is either that cps connection OR the distributor. Just be very careful NOT to have any spark plug unconnected to earth when you check for a spark. Open circuits in the...

Re: Immobiliser
Have you eliminated the cps yet. That is the most common reason for a non start. Was it running ok before this problem came along. A faulty cps will allow an engine to keep running but not restart.
My understanding is that the temic is highly reliable (unlike the cps circuit).

Re: Air Bag - code 21 safer unit
I read about this item some 5 years ago so my memory’s rusty but I seem to remember it being on the centreline of the car in a well protected place like the bulkhead though my initial thought was in the area of the slam panel. I’m in Holland at the mo. Back on Tuesday. I’ll get the bible out then an...

Re: Lost drive
is the bolt still connected to the gear shift selector :?: I’ll have a look tomorrow  But my money is on the thrust bearing, gone through the clutch cover plate, at the fingers. Won’t know till I take the gearbox off next weekend. You can start the car with it in gear, this leads me to think ...

Re: White smoke on startup
As above , plus it may just be water vapour , quite normal to see it at start up but , if it persists , then guess where the excess water is coming from ? Observing the exhaust of the jet engine at height is a wonderful visible demonstration of what happens , but you don't see , at ground level. Bu...

Re: White smoke on startup
Not sure if this the whole story or even relevant with a probe but from my distant marine engineering days we spent a lot of time watching smoke and the menu was... White smoke - too much air (a lean mixture of air and fuel) Blue smoke - burning oil. Black smoke - not enough air. So on that basis I ...

Re: headlamp options
I have LEDs in my TR7, but unless you pay decent money for then, they are crap, I think I paid £160 for a pair of H4s also if the car is post 1986 they are, strictly speaking illegal LED headlights dazzle me and give me a headache but when you are behind the wheel they don’t seem that good and what...
