Any one have or know of a low milage secondand hand 16V engine suitable for a 1997 car , or a suitable low milage block ? Head been skimmed , head done less than a month ago on mine and still it smokes , been pricing piston kits … oversized as will need a rebore , car has now been off road over 1 year , not giving up on her so looking at all options to get her roaded and back to the shows .

Why does it need a rebore, normally with these engines (16v or 24v), the oil ring gets stuck and lets oil past.

Have you considered replacing just the piston rings? it can be done with the engine still in the car, as KIT aka Duncan has done it in the past

Thanks so much for reply Micron , it’s mechanic that’s saying a rebore , I will let him know what you’ve said , would be a helluva lot easier for him and my purse
