I was due in the Cardiac Clinic in Aberdeen Royal Infermary this morning. But not more than 10yds into the journey there was an almighty bang from the drivers side suspension and Scarlet sank down onto the tyre with a smell of burning rubber. Lucky it didnt happen at speed.............I hate to think of what might have happened. Parked her up and caught the bus to ARI.
Then it got worse. I need another Electro Cardiagram soon followed by another run on the treadmill......then an Angiogram "to see if you need a valve replacement or a byepass." Bloody hell.
Can it get worse? Arrived back in Lossie and sure enough the D/S spring is broken. So lets look for some springs in Probe Store. Under £100 for a lowering kit. Good price.....BUT......I have Snow Chains and its a tight fit already. Local factors quoting £240 for 4 standard replacements, but front not to hand (have to be ordered).

So a couple of questions. 1 Anyone else with a lowering kit using snow chains?
2 Does Probe Store have standard springs?
3 Anyone know of an alternative source of standard springs?

Thanks for the link Paul. I have just found some standard height in Probe Store. But why are they more expensive than the lower Kit? Possibly I just replace both fronts at this time.

Your right ..........yesterday we were out on the A96 "having some fun" ..............leave it up to you to think about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well whoever it is seems to have missed out on watching the bank balance.

What do you think about the lowering kit and chains?

dont see why it should cause too much of a problem mike. the inside clearance will be unchanged, and theres still plenty of arch clearance on a 30mm lowered car to fit a chain

Thanks Paul I will go that way. Untill I strip the struts I have no means of knowing which top bearing is used. Could be rollers or the plastic ones. Would do a replacement. Would JonG know what type the top bearings would be?

Image Well there it is. No damage to brake pipes but tyre will be replaced as some slight damage to the side wall. Strut now on the bench awaiting new springs.

Just the way it is, I've asked the manufacturers this question and they just say it's due to supply and demand, and volumes of manufacture.
